Hockey and Indian games are quite long related to each other. This can be said as the hockey was born in India and is still soaring to make its best out of all the ways. It was in 1980 when a bronze medal was owned by men’s Indian hockey team. India defeated Germany 5-4 in a thrilling encounter with Tokyo 2020. This is being quite an emotional journey since the long time of 1980.

Indian women hockey locked its game with Argentina in the second semi final at 3.30 pm. In the semi-finals Netherlands defeated Great Britain with 5-1 in women hockey. Now the great Britain played for bronze medal against the team India in the semi finals.
Role of Indian hockey in Olympics:-
Women hockey team stood with colors, even with defeat. They went to the best of their performance that they can give. Still got through a narrow defeat to Argentina with 2-1 in the semi finals that ended the hope for winning gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The team finished the last at Rio games in 2016 with giving their best and in Tokyo they created history.
The magnificent players grouped with savita punia, sushila chanu, vandana katariya, nikki pradhan, deep grace ekka, neha goyal, salima Tete, navneet kaur, udita duhan, nisha warsi, lalremsiami, monika malik, sharmila devi, gurjit kaur, navjot kaur and the team really gave its excelling performance.
At the same time, the men’s hockey team has been the mainstream of Indian sports since generation. They haven’t been so good still they defeated Great Britain and reached the semi final making history in the 49 years. But they later lost to Belgium in the last four years. While the team entered the game, it got ranked no 10 globally with only two other participating teams. After the first three games in the pool A. there was not much to separate between the lowest and them who finished it 12th time. The team played well and created opportunities against Germany and great Britain. But they left the table un turned. The horror of 2016 repeated itself.
